A2A: Have Fun and Raise Money, Too! Special Events
Facilitators: Jane Lottes and Stephanie Wollenburg
Let’s face it, special events are time-consuming…and in a small school who has time to run them? Find out how you can enjoy running fundraising events by utilizing volunteers and staff with the "right stuff" and raise substantial funds, too. Resist the urge to add more events to raise more money; simply tweak those events you are already doing for maximum income. Special attention will be given to organization and management of successful special events…from “to do” lists to sponsors; honorees to journals; and more. Build participant relationships that endure and create events that are “not to be missed!”
A2B: It's Not Just About "The Ask": The Proof is in the Planning
Facilitators: Paul Grand Pre and Roger Dow
Thinking about a special fundraising campaign? Need a new school vehicle or technology upgrades? Thinking about a capital campaign? We’ll share with you some of the “rules of thumb” about the realistic size for a successful campaign, some of the key planning and execution issues, and tips on how to best focus your efforts for success.
A2C: Branding: Making a Name for Yourself
Facilitator: Barbara Ward
Any meaningful discussion of marketing begins with the topic of branding. It is the necessary foundation of all of our marketing and communications activity. This session will overview how to define your brand (and create a working branding statement) and use that information to set the direction for marketing your school. From corporate identity, to promotional materials, to advertising, we will discuss how to identify your best prospective customers and develop a strategy for reaching them.
A2D: Research Substantiated Tools for Effective Principals
Facilitators: Dr. Christine Rowe and Lori Lee Joerz
Effective Principals use effective practices. Such practices include: Collaborating, Planning, Modeling, Providing Resources, Building Confidence, and Communication. Join us to learn more about these practices as well as the research behind how to define and prioritize these practices. This session will include a presentation on research, an activity to reflect on our own practices as administrators, and time for collaboration. The presenters' goal is to examine ways for administrators to facilitate teaching and learning in the setting of Lutheran schools where often the principal is called on to put out fires rather than to light the lamp of learning!
